Reese Gurus | 2006

This was a short, week long project that asked my group to design a service around a community. We chose to create a student-led organization to improve the understanding of software in the School of Design at CMU. Reese Cluster gives design undergraduate students access to critical software applications, printing services and class space. Through constant interaction in their classes and assignments, these students create bonds and form communities. By creating a service that allows undergraduate design students to share knowledge, we allow them to learn faster, create stronger communities, and receive greater value from their education.

By identifying and rewarding students who are very proficient with the design tools, this community can create "Gurus." Gurus help this group of neighbors to grow in their skills by disseminating knowledge via several methods: in-person tutoring, short classes, reusable knowledge objects and forums. As deliverables, we created a ReeseGuru manual, a short tutorial on Solidworks and images for a possible website to demonstrate our concept.
