Projector Table
Projector Table, 2008
Baltic birch plywood + Wenge trim
I was asked to design and make a table in a week. I also had just bought a projector.
Projectors are a challenge to place without a dedicated piece of furniture for them to live. The basic concept for this table was to create an open surface that functions as a side table, with shelves to hold the projector and the other devices that need to be near it.

As this was a one week project, I did not have much time to ponder the design. I went with a very architectural form and decided to give it life in the details as I created it. I edge-banded the piece with leftover wenge from my chair. I also used wenge for the screw plugs.
The table took about 12 hours to construct and 3-4 to sand and finish. I used 4 layers of wipe-on polyurethane as a precautionary measure against spills. The table is quite heavy, but this has turned out to be a good thing, as it keeps people from moving the projector when they bump into it.
